BC must like Chick-fil-a

Baby Cunnings must be a Chick-fil-a fan (like momma)! We had CFA for dinner last night and BC was having a dance party for the hour or so afterwards. (Or maybe it was the tight waistband on my pants!) It's so fun being able to feel the baby's little kicks and nudges. What a blessing!

I am so thankful to the Lord for giving us this child and a great pregnancy to date! One of my favorite passages from the bible reads:

"I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him..." (1 Samuel 1:27)

He's so faithful to answer our prayers!

Baby Kicks

When John and I went to the doctor on Tuesday he talked to us about feeling the baby moving. I told him that I thought I had felt it move once a couple weeks ago, but nothing since then. He said that was normal and that I probably wouldn't really start to feel it for another week or two, and then on top of that it would be another few weeks until John could feel the baby externally.

I guess that is why I was so surprised when I climbed in the bed last night and pretty quickly noticed a feeling like a little hand or foot had swiped the inside of my belly. I jumped and said "Oh my gosh, I just felt the baby move!" It tickled and was followed by several kicks and bumps. I immediately put my hand on my stomach and could feel it externally, so John put his hand on my stomach and he was able to feel it too! It was so much fun! I had such a hard time trying to fall asleep because I kept laying there with my hand on my stomach waiting to feel more kicks!

This is such a fun time in the pregnancy!!!

Treasure Hunting

I have been a sucker for bargain shopping and finding a good deal from the time my parents started giving me my allowance (thanks mom and dad!) Needless to say, there are few times I splurge on a full priced item and even some sale prices are far more than I am willing to pay! So, when we found out we were pregnant I felt like I was embarking on a huge treasure hunt to find all of the right items for the baby and the nursery. One thing I had been wanting for the nursery was an antique piece of furniture that could be used for a changing table now and then once we are out of the baby phase of life it can be used in another way. I have been looking at thrift stores, discount stores, online, etc. Everything that was close to what I hoped for was either way too far of a driving distance and/or way out of our price range, until yesterday...
I found this lovely piece on craigslist and a reasonable price and within a good driving distance from where we live! When I called the owner, we found out that he knows a couple that has worked at Eagle Ranch too. We made arrangements to pick up the furniture and got off the phone, but he soon called back and said that he and his wife wanted to give us there pack-n-play (which seems to be in very good shape!) and they asked if we would be interested in the in-home gym he had only used twice (which those of you who know John know he jumped all over that offer)! What a blessing! On top of that, when John went the pick EVERYTHING up, they gave us a very nice tricycle that their children have never used. Talk about a HOOK-UP! We are so thankful to God and this family for their generosity!

Butterflies

Well, I think I might have felt the baby move for the first time on Thursday night! John and I had been out for a nice dinner to make up for my birthday and Valentine's Day since I was not fond of food during either of those celebrations. (As a side note, it was funny when we ordered because I ordered filet mignon and garlic mashed potatoes and John ordered a salad and scallops, which is quite the reversal compared to most couples! All I can say is I have been wanting A LOT of protein with this baby!) Anyway, after dinner we were picking out a movie at Blockbuster and I felt a light fluttering in the very low part of my abdomen. Many people have told me it feels like butterflies. I would say it was a very light "butterfly-ish" feeling. The only thing is, I have not noticed it again, so maybe it was a fluke. I guess only time will tell...

I love avocados!

Well, this week the baby is the size of an avocado (according to www.babycenter.com) and some of you know how much I LOVE avocados! Some of the other food comparisons they make to the baby's size have not been quite as appetizing, so this week I will have to celebrate by eating extra guacamole or something!

It's hard to believe the tiny person that was the size of a sesame seed when we found out about him/her has grown to be this big in a matter of a couple months! The Lord has been so good and faithful to us by giving us this child and sustaining it's life over the past 4 months. Pray with us that He will continue to carry our baby through the pregnancy healthy!

Baby Belly - 16 weeks

Sorry we missed the 15 weeks picture last week! Things got going with the week and it was over before we knew it. Here is my 16 week belly photo.

I have been feeling much better the past few weeks! The morning sickness seems to be gone and my energy level is up!
